Malin, Oregon-based company uses annual event to raise money to help Make-A-Wish Oregon make childrens’ wishes come true.
Malin, OR (www.golddustfarms.com) November 19th, 2013 – On October 9th, 2013, Gold Dust Potato Processors, Inc. sent a donation of $3,800 to Make-A-Wish Oregon. The donation was the product of a fundraiser held by the company during their annual Open House Field Day.
At the Open House Field Day, held August 20th of this year, Gold Dust’s guests generously pledged and donated a total of $1,900. After all pledges were received, Gold Dust’s owners matched the donations, bringing the total to $3,800.
“It’s great that so many of our guests were so generous to help out a great organization,” said Bill Walker, CEO of Gold Dust. “And with all the good Make-A-Wish does for kids, this is something we can all feel good about.”
Gold Dust Potato Processors’ Open House Field Day brings guests from all over the Klamath Basin and as far away as North Dakota to explore potato fields and their potato processing plant followed by a round of golf and dinner at the Running Y Resort. This year, Gold Dust decided to add a charitable element to the event and chose Make-A-Wish Oregon.
With Make-A-Wish’s mission of helping ailing children’s dreams come true, Gold Dust was eager to use their annual event to help raise funds for the charity. Bill Walker’s wife, Jan, and Weston Walker’s wife, Katie, along with Gold Dust employee Necia Phillips also donate time to the local chapter of Make-A-Wish Oregon.
