Walker Brothers
Bill and John Walker have been farming in the Klamath Basin since 1973. Walker Brothers (J&W Walker Farms) represents the farming side of Gold Dust.
In 1973, brothers William (Bill) and John Walker teamed up to farm 200 acres in the Klamath Basin. Two years later they planted their first crop of potatoes, which, as you know, has led to the Walker family becoming one of the largest potato farms in the Klamath Basin. By 1984, J&W Walker Farms was incorporated to represent the Walker family’s farming interest.
As the years went by, J&W Walker Farms grew, allowing Bill’s son, Weston Walker, and oldest daughter, Tricia (Walker) Hill, to help manage the growing processing business and family farm. When Tricia and Weston joined their father and uncle, a new farm entity, Walker Brothers, was created. Walker Brothers incorporates the farming aspects of the family businesses, overseeing the growing of chipping potatoes, alfalfa, wheat, organic hay, organic grain and organic potatoes on 15,000 acres of prime Klamath Basin farm ground.
Walker Brothers farm fields ranging as far north as the Running Y Ranch outside of Klamath Falls, OR, as far south as the farmland surrounding Newell and Tulelake, CA; and the areas between including the home-place outside of Merrill and several farms around Malin, OR. The variety of fields with its diverse geography has allowed Walker Brothers to secure some of the best farmland suited for our variety of crops.
Walker Brothers remains a family-owned and operated business. With farming in our roots, we plan to continue providing the best chipping potatoes, grain and hay to our customers while overcoming challenges presented to Klamath Basin ag in the years to come.
